DIY Christmas cake

Not an expert baker? Don’t worry we have got you covered this Christmas with an easy to make Christmas cake that is a great center piece for any table.

This recipe serves 12 people and can be made in less than 45 minutes

Main ingredients

  • - 1 PnP square Christmas cake
  • - 1 drizzle of brandy, (optional)
  • - ¼ gram PnP smooth apricot jam (60ml)
  • - 1 tbsp corn flour, for dusting
  • - 1 tub marzipan(500g)
  • - 1 tub fondant icing (500g)
  • - 1 bottle food colouring
  • - 1 selection colourful ribbon and sweets

Method

  • - Pierce cake all over with a skewer, the drizzle with brandy ( if using)
  • - Leave to soak up brandy
  • - Brush cake with jam
  • - Roll out marzipan on a corn flour dusted counter top. To ½ cm thickness
  • - Drape over cake, using your hands to smooth out
  • - Roll fondant on dusted surface to a ½ thickness
  • - Drape over cake and gently smooth out any wrinkles
  • - Dye any icing off cuts in different colours and use them to make decorations
  • - Decorate cake with icing decorations and sweeties
  • - Tie ribbon around the base of the cake to finish
